Welcome to our HERS Breast Cancer Foundation 5K/10K Walk/Run Page created in memory of Namrata’s mother who we lost to breast cancer over 15 years ago. Cancer is a cause we care deeply about as we have known and lost many loved ones to it. Having felt the devastation of this disease at close quarters, we are spurred to do more for the community of cancer patients and survivors.
About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 13%) will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
We all know someone loved – family, friend, co-worker who was diagnosed with cancer and endured the treatment and all the life altering impact that goes with it.
We walk on Saturday, 24th September, 2022 in memory of those we have lost and to honor those who continue to fight bravely. We walk so that survivors may access products and services that restore what “HERS” stands for: Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support.Through this fundraising effort, we hope to help patients and survivors going through this tough journey to access HERS Assistance Programs which ensure that low-income and under-served breast cancer patients receive the post-surgical products they need and deserve! HERS Assistance Programs provide specialty bras, prostheses, wigs, and lymphedema garments that help individuals heal and feel whole after breast cancer treatment.
Donations in all amounts are welcome. To help put your giving in perspective:
$50 provides a survivor with a specialty pocketed bra
$85 alleviates lymphedema (swelling) with a compression sleeve
$150 gives a patient experiencing hair loss a wig
$250 supports a lymphedema sufferer with a compression sleeve and glove
$500 allows a patient to look and feel their best with two breast forms (prostheses)
