Team Janelle

Hello!!  My name is Freska and  I am a breast cancer survivor.   It's been 9 years since active treatment and, as you can imagine, the experience has changed me forever.  Many of my friends, family and strangers too helped me and my children through that difficult time.  One of those friends was my friend Janelle...also known as THE MIXTRESS.  We worked together for many years in radio.  Janelle and our mutual friend Maddy scrambled quickly to fundraise for me selling button's with my name on it for people to wear and raise awareness for breast cancer.  Little did we know 9 years later Janelle would be diagnosed with breast cancer and is going through active treatment as I write this.  She is an amazing person that is so talented.  She is a single mom of a vibrant young girl and young man that she both adores.  Janelle had recently undergone a mastectomy and just started chemotherapy and will likely undergo radiation as well.  She is positive and has the greatest attitude!!!  SHE IS A SURVIVOR!!  

On September 24th I will dedicate my walk to Janelle. I love her like a sister and want to show her support as she did for me!!! I will create a small sign to walk with with her name on it!!   If you would also like to include names of your loved ones that you would like me to walk in honor or memory of please consider making a small donation in their name and I will be sure to include it!! I will post a photo of my sign and photos along the walk to share with everyone on my FACEBOOK and Instagram pages.  

The money raised via donations and fundraising goes to support our Assistance Programs that provide specialty bras, prostheses, wigs, and lymphedema garments that help individuals heal and feel whole after breast cancer treatment. 

This means a lot to me.  One of the many things I learned through my experience is being kind and loving every moment of your life no matter how difficult it can be at times.  We need to show eachother that we care.  Life is a precious thing that should never be taken for granted.  There is no donation too small.
